Brianne Crisanti

200hr YTT, Restorative YTT, Prenatal YTT, Birth Doula

"I came to know yoga back in 2008 as a form of physical healing after a car accident that left my body and mind frazzled. I immediately joined a studio in Calgary, hearing of the benefits that yoga offered. Immediately I connected with the practice and felt so much joy each time I got on the mat. The seed had been planted but life continued to move forward and I found myself in and out of my yoga practice over the next 8 years.

In 2016 I decided to join the residence program at The Salt Spring Centre of Yoga as a Karma Yogi. Over the next two years I studied and experienced the benefits of yoga asana, pranayama (breath work), and karma yoga while living and working in their intentional community. In 2017 I completed my 200 HR YTT in the classical Ashtanga yoga tradition that they offer through the teachings of their guru Baba Hari Dass. Shortly after, in 2018, I decided to deepen my practice and love of slow movement by completing a 25 hour restorative yoga training with Judith Lasater in San Francisco. Coming to the breath and softening into the asana postures slowly and with ease became my sweet and dedicated connection to yoga asana.

In 2020 as the world was closing down I decided to embark on an online 85 hour prenatal yoga teacher training through Awakened Spirit Yoga as I felt the call to serve women & mothers on a deeper level. I truly believe our mothers are the gatekeepers to the health and vitality of our communities and deserve all the support while birthing and raising our future humans. I find so much joy witnessing women move on the mat with their innate wisdom as the guide, using the yoga postures as a door to unlock the sacred nature and wisdom of their bodies and their babies. It is my belief that all humans (but especially mamas) benefit by slow, restorative classes, and so I weave restorative yoga into the majority of my prenatal classes."
Bri is also a Birth Doula and Energy Healer, and founder of The Balsamic Moon.

"I have practiced yoga on and off throughout the majority of my life. It wasn’t something that was offered in my home, just something that kept creeping in. When things were hard, especially through university, I continued to turn to yoga but would lose sight of my practice when everything seemed to get back on track. I practiced in this on-and-off cycle for years and it wasn't until I became pregnant with my first child that I decided that it was important to commit to my practice so that I could ‘replenish my well’ and be present for my family.

At three months postpartum, I began my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training. I was nowhere near physically ready to take this on, but I needed something to focus on that was just for me. Little did I know, this training would be so much more than a certification. It would be a community of women that I am so very grateful for, a journey of spiritual practice, and a strong desire to support Mothers and families through movement and connection."

"I never saw the path ahead of me back in 2012 being one where I was teaching yoga, attending births as a Doula or preparing couples for labor but it has been the most wonderful, humbling and grateful decade of my life doing this work. I’ve been so lucky in this time to teach to students of all ages, host and train teachers in pre and postnatal yoga and educate and prepare women and couples for a new chapter of their lives.
I’ve spent the last 10 years training and specializing in pre and post natal yoga, core and pelvic floor education and labor preparation. I’ve accumulated over 1000 hours in yoga training, attended 60+ births, certified as a Postnatal Fitness Specialist, Birth and Post Partum Doula and authored and hosted my own 85 hour Prenatal yoga teacher trainings; but still nothing has been as powerful as connecting with the strong and amazing community of women I have been so fortunate to meet over the years. Helping women connect with the power their breath and body holds has been the biggest gift of my life and I hope to continue to do this for the next decade ahead. "

Cher Compton
200hr YTT, 85hr Prenatal YTT, 30hr Yin YTT, 50hr Kids YTT, 108hr Yogini Path Immersion

"My journey into yoga awkwardly started back in high school when my friend and I came across her mom's fitness DVDs (this was back in the '90s 😉) and we had no idea what we were doing! However, over the years I started attending classes at various studios and began to feel the benefits for my physical and mental health; by 2007 it had become part of my weekly routine. My practice evolved in 2008 when I was pregnant with my first son -- I discovered a deeper connection with my baby and my changing body, when I came to my mat. Prenatal yoga strengthened the bond between my son and I, and better prepared me for labor & delivery, which enlightened me on the benefits of this style of yoga. Since then, I have embraced yoga through life's ups & downs as it always has a way of bringing harmony & flow to my life. In 2015, an epic journey to Peru for a yoga retreat was the catalyst for my personal desire to become a yoga teacher, so that I could share these benefits with others. I completed my 200-hr Yoga Teacher Training, followed by 85-hr Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga Training, 50-hr Kids Yoga Training, 30-hr Yin Yoga Training, and most recently a 108hr Yogini Path Immersion to dive even deeper. Always a student, I continue to seek ways to expand my practice through workshops, courses, and maintaining a daily yoga practice. I bring in a philosophical element to my guided sessions, as I truly believe yoga unites us on a level that surpasses the physical sense. Drawn to the Earth elements I cue postures with reference to nature, and prefer being outdoors whenever possible -- both on my mat and off, in daily living! I love being in a space filled with the positive energy of other yogis, and am passionate about holding that space within our community here."
